Erev Pesach | Evening Before Passover | ערב פסח

21 of April, Sunday, 7:00 pm, Nissan 14, Eve of Passover or Erev Pesach, also called the “the night He was betrayed” (1Cor 11:23; John 13:1-18:27). This is a solemn night to remember the last words of Yeshua to His disciples before he terribly suffered and died. Bring a towel to wash a brother or sister’s feet (John 13:14-17). Basins will be provided. Women will be washing women’s feet in room 204; men will stay in 205. It is also a time to examine oneself and partake of bread and wine, with children supervised by parents. “Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.” (1 Cor. 11:28–30 ESV). (There will be no meal.)

Passover Seder | Pesach Seder | פסח סדר

22 of April, Monday, 6:00 pm: Nissan 15, the Passover Dinner or Pesach going into the Eve of Unleavened Bread or Erev Matzot. “It is a night to be observed for the Lord” (Ex 12:42 NASB). This joyful celebration commemorates Israelites deliverance from Egypt by the blood of their Passover lambs and our deliverance from our spiritual Egypt. “Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed (1 Cor. 5:7 ESV). Leaven (yeast, baking powder and baking soda) and products made from it should be removed from your home before this night. Please don’t bring any to the meal! “For seven days no leaven is to be found in your houses. If anyone eats what is leavened, that person will be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he is a sojourner or a native of the land” (Ex. 12:19 ESV). Please join us in our Upper Room! Brother Xan has arranged for a naturally raised lamb to be slaughtered for us and he will cook it whole (without the entrails). We will also provide bitter herbs: horse radish and parsley. Please bring tasty side dishes! Home-made unleavened bread is always appreciated. Bring your own grape juice or wine for the evening.

23th of April, Tuesday, 11:00 am, Nissan 15, the First Day of Unleavened Bread or Matzah. This is a commanded assembly (Lev 23:7). For seven days, we learn the lesson of keeping sin out of our lives by not eating leaven, and we take in the “unleavened bread of sincerity and truth”—Yeshua! (1Cor 5:7-8). Bring festive food for the meal to follow.

29th of April, Monday, 11:00 am, Nissan 21, the Last Day of Unleavened Bread or Matzah. This is a commanded assembly (Lev 23:8). It pictures victory over sin and the first resurrection. Bring food for lunch, fit for celebrating Yeshua’s victory and our victory over sin! Be ready to reign with him!

Literally translated, this name means “Day of Rejoicing,” or “Day of Blasting!” So, let’s! The tradition here is to make sure that everyone within your community/vicinity/neighborhood has heard at least one shofar blast this day, so let’s set some alarms and get them blasting!
